Giving back to the community has always been important to the Progressive team

Contributing to the community has always been important to the Progressive team. In the 1950s, Progressive Chevrolet's founder, J.S. "Sandy" Sanders, created the Progressive Civic Fund as a means of giving back to the community that supported him in starting his business. In 1937, the Progressive Auto Group was established. It has grown throughout the years and, in the last 10 years alone, has brought in over $450,000 for the community.

The main goal of the Progressive Civic Fund is to provide Progressive employees with the freedom to choose local nonprofits that they are passionate about helping. Each year, a committee made up of representatives from Sales, Accounting, Body Shop, and Parts gets together to talk about recommendations from each division and vote on which organizations Progressive CDJR will support the next year.

Every worker gives a tiny portion of their paycheck every pay month. Even though it might not seem like much, the combined contributions of all Progressive workers have a significant influence on the community. The Sanders family has also made significant contributions to the Stark Development Foundation, the Massillon Football Stadium, the Shop-With-a-Cop program, and the building fund of the new Salvation Army facility, to mention a few. Most recently, Progressive Auto Group teamed up with a local radio station to raise money for the cancer research centers at two area hospitals.
