When you purchase a new vehicle from Progressive Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, or bring your car or truck in for service, a portion of every dollar goes right back into our community through Progressive’s Civic Fund donations.

We’d like to highlight one of the community outreach groups we’re proud to have made a difference with: Hammer and Nails. In 2021, the Civic Fund donated $2,750 to Hammer and Nails, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that fixes up homes for the disadvantaged in the Stark County area.

Hammer and Nails is faith-based ministry in Canton, Ohio, that puts the love, effort and skills of area volunteers to good use.  Whether through painting, repairing or installing accessibility accommodations, Hammer and Nails volunteers use donations like ours to improve area homes and, by extension, area lives.

What began as a temporary Christian mission in 1995 has grown into an official nonprofit, raising money and recruiting volunteers to give back to area residents who need help with the upkeep, repairs, and maintenance of their homes. They’ve even installed wheelchair ramps for homeowners who require mobility assistance, allowing them easier access in and out of the home.

More than 1,700 homeowners in Stark County have benefited from these services, which give hope and dignity to those struggling with home maintenance and repair due to age, infirmity, or financial straits. The effect of this work can be seen in the Hammer and Nails motto: “Fixing Houses, Changing Lives.”

At Progressive, we believe in the power of community, which is why our employees have donated more than $53,000 to community groups last year alone via the Civic Fund. Started in the 1950s by Progressive Auto Group’s founder, J.S. Sanders, the Progressive Employees’ Civic Fund collects and distributes donations to almost two dozen community groups. Over the years, we’ve poured nearly half a million dollars into the Stark County area, as well as the Make-a-Wish Foundation and the Salvation Army.

We wouldn’t have been able to do it without you, our customers. Thanks for being part of our community.
