The New 2021 Ram 2500 or Ram 3500: What’s the Difference? Preorder Yours Now
Whether you’re hauling the camper or the kids, the 2021 Dodge Ram lineup gives you the incredible power and tow capacity you need. But what’s the difference between the Ram 2500 and the Ram 3500? We’ll show you where these two models differ. And with new inventory arriving daily, don’t miss the opportunity to preorder your new Ram.
While both the Ram 2500 and the Ram 3500 are heavy-duty machines with luxury interior touches, there are some differences underneath the hood depending on your selections.
The 2500 sports a standard 6.4L V8 engine with 410 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque, which is more than enough for your everyday hauls. Looking for more industrial performance? Go with the 6.7L Cummins diesel engine. Both the 2500 and the 3500 offer the Cummins with 370 hp and 850 lb-ft of torque.
But if you want even more heft than that, choose the 3500 — you’ll get a 400 hp high-output diesel engine in the 3500 only, featuring 1075 lb-ft of torque for top-of-the-line power and performance.
With the powerful 400 hp diesel engine in place, the 3500 can haul up to 7,680 lbs, or tow an incredible 37,100 lbs — perfect for the heaviest of heavy-duty jobs.
Don’t need all that towing capacity? Not everyone does. In comparison, the 2500 with that engine tops gives you 2,380 lbs in the bed and 19,010 lbs on the hitch. Dropping down to the 370 hp diesel engine on the 2500 puts your capacity at 16,870 lbs; choosing the V8 lets you haul up to 14,370 lbs. No matter which you choose, you can tow with confidence.
Depending on the engine and trim you choose, there will be a price differential between the 2500 and the 3500. It all depends on your needs, cab size, how much power and towing capacity you require, and which trim level suits you best.
Regular cab or extended cab? Short bed or long bed? Cloth or leather? There’s a Ram truck for everyone, and the 2021 lineups for the 2500 and the 3500 know how to treat you right. Choose from six trim levels, including the Tradesman, Big Horn, Laramie, Power Wagon (2500 only), Laramie Longhorn and Limited edition. Available premium Kardon audio, WIFI hotspot and Sirius, plus elegant touches and accents, only further cement the Ram as your dream truck.
And no matter which Ram you choose, you’ll enjoy a 5-year, 100,000-mile Powertrain limited warranty and roadside assistance.
